Tin Gustaf - Your Holy Land AI Pocket Museum
Tin Gustaf is an interactive AI-powered platform that showcases the Dalman Collection—14,000 historical images of Palestine—via clustered, auto-described photo groups. It brings to life the work of Gustaf Dalman, a German theologian who documented the cultural landscape of the Holy Land over 100 years ago.
The project is a collaboration between the Dalman Institute, Institute of Data Science, and Computing Centre at the University of Greifswald. It digitizes the Dalman Collection and uses LLaMA-Lava-Next for image descriptions, MiniLM for embeddings, and k-means for clustering. Group titles are curated by humans. It can be accessed here.
