Courses at the Institute of Data Science
The Institute of Data Science at the University of Greifswald offers several courses on Data Science and Machine Learning in the core programming languages Python, R and Julia. Our goal is to equip students with the necessary skills for data-driven research. Students will learn how to collect, process, analyze, and interpret data to make data-driven decisions.
Master of Science in Data Science
In year 2024, we proudly launched a new Master of Science in Data Science program, designed to foster innovation and interdisciplinary research. Our program is designed for those looking to explore the intersection of data science with various academic disciplines, offering a unique opportunity to collaborate with leading research institutes located in Greifswald.
Why Choose Our Program?
- Interdisciplinary Research Environment: Our program emphasizes the importance of integrating data science with other fields, including biology, medicine, or environmental science. Students will work in an intellectually stimulating environment, supported by faculty across multiple disciplines.
- Collaboration with Renowned Research Institutes: Our students have the unique opportunity to collaborate with prestigious institutions such as the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Science and Technology (INP), Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute, and the Helmholtz Institute for One Health.
- Comprehensive, Research-Oriented Curriculum: Our curriculum blends foundational data science techniques—like machine learning, data mining, and predictive analytics—with domain-specific knowledge, encouraging students to apply data science to a wide range of real-world problems.
- Capstone Research Projects: Throughout the program, students will engage in interdisciplinary research projects, collaborating with experts in various fields and producing work that bridges the gap between data science and the disciplines of their choice.
Further information on examination and study regulations (Prüfungs- und Studienordnungen) of the program can be found here.
