Josephine Thomas is leading the Greifswald Artificial INtelligence Group (GAIN) within the Institute for Data Science. Her research interests include machine learning on graphs and physics-informed learning with applications in but not limited to the electrical power grid and optimization of printed circuit boards.

Short CV:
Josephine Thomas received her appointment as a full professor in Machine Learning at the University of Greifswald in June 2025. Before joining the University of Greifswald she led the junior research group at the University of Kassel. She received her PhD from the TU Dresden in 2017 and a diploma in physics from the TU Berlin in 2010.
